Are you looking for Online classes for kids? Read this blog post to know some of the best Tips to choose the best ones.
I won’t be surprised if you are a harried parent, with bored kids and a house where the time has slowed down to a standstill.
This pandemic has forced the entire education system to find alternatives to physical classroom learning and extra curricular classes.
We weren’t prepared for this change and neither were our kids.
Schools are definitely doing their bit, but I’m sure you would agree that it is the need of the hour to keep kids engaged sensibly so the kids use their screen time wisely.
The market is flooded with numerous options for e-learning, which makes it difficult to choose the best one for your kids.
Most parents struggle to pick the right kind of online classes for their kids because of one big question:
What should be kept in mind when choosing online classes for kids?

Is e- learning as effective?
As per the evidences, for the kids who have access to the right kind of technology, online learning can be quite effective and beneficial as it increases their retaining capacity. This happens mainly because children are able to learn faster online.
E-learning requires 40-60% less time to learn than the conventional physical classroom set up as per the researches.
To give parents a sense of what points should be considered while making an informed choice, I have mentioned a few important pointers in this post.
Most of us aim at introducing technology to our kids, and teaching them to use it wisely. There is also a constant effort to avoid making kids overdo the screen time, hence choosing online classes wisely is the only option we have.
Tips for choosing great online classes for kids:
1. Structured environment:
Since kids easily get distracted, you should definitely look for
a structured environment when looking for an online class. It’s important to go beyond replicating a physical classroom setup, to get full benefit of online learning. There should be a range of tools and engagement methods used to promote personalisation, intelligence and inclusion.
Making learning effective and fun is crucial.
2. Context and Content:
Try to have a quality check of the content your kids would be exposed to, while attending the online classes. You must look for well researched and specially curated content.
Also, please ensure that you introduce your kids with age appropriate content only. There should be a proper quality check done so you are sure that your child would have a great take away from the online classes. Also please ensure that the vision and objective of the online classes matches that of your kids.
3. Proper attention:
It’s important to enroll your kids into online classes that assures complete attention to them, so they are motivated to make the most of it.
4. Two way communication:
Pondering questions give birth to an ability to think creatively, hence it becomes important to pick the classes that encourage a two way communication. Keeping kids on mute all the time, would kill their enthusiasm.
Democratic participation, where kids are encouraged to raise questions and participate equally always lighten up the learning mode.
5. Right learning method:
The mentor or trainer should be well qualified and must use the right learning methods.
6. Affordable:
The online classes shouldn’t put a hole in your pocket. It’s best to pick the ones that suit your budget.

There are definitely pros and cons. However currently I am sure we wont want to take the risk of sending kids out for social classes. It’s the need of the hpour. And anyways this is a great opportunity for us parents to teach kids how to use Gadgets wisely.
These are some good points that you have mentioned. Context and the style of teaching is something that we need to focus on as I have observed not all teachers can teach well in an online environment. They might be experts but keeping kids glued in a virtual environment is not every ones cup of tea.
